Profesor Jan De Waele, MD, PhD, is a surgery‑trained intensivist and full Professor of Medicine at Ghent University, working in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Ghent University Hospital in Belgium. He practices as an intensivist in the surgical ICU, where he combines clinical care with an active research program and holds a Senior Clinical Investigator Fellowship from the Research Foundation Flanders.
