ABELHAS vs. CÂNCER: o que a ciência acabou de descobrir

In in vitro tests, the substance was able to completely eliminate triple-negative and HER2-enriched breast cancer cells in less than 60 minutes, almost completely preserving healthy cells. The study, published in the journal npj Precision Oncology, revealed that melittin prevents the activation of the cell growth receptors EGFR and HER2, interrupting signaling cascades such as PI3K/Akt, which are essential for tumor cell survival. According to the results, the response time for cell destruction was rapid, with growth pathways blocked within 20 minutes and complete cell death within an hour. Additionally, researchers tested a modified version of melittin with an RGD motif (an amino acid sequence that increases the molecule's adhesion to tumor cells), which further increased specificity without harming normal cells. Tests in animal models also showed promising results: the combination of melittin with docetaxel chemotherapy significantly reduced tumor growth in mice. www.apislogia.com.br The Apislogia channel is hosted by zootechnician Pedro Santos, also a PhD in animal production (apiculture). Our goal is to teach postgraduate-level content about the fascinating world of bees in a didactic and accessible way. #apislogia #apiculture #bees
