School shooting alert in Schongau: "Major police operation" – SWAT team searches school complex – suspected perpetrator arrested! A possible school shooting occurred at the Welfen-Gymnasium in Schongau around noon. The alarm was triggered at approximately 12:50 p.m. Initially, it was unclear to students and teachers whether it was a fire alarm. According to Philipp Röttger, a 16-year-old allegedly attacked students. Police stated he was carrying a gun and a knife. Two 13-year-old girls were seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital. Röttger confirmed that both girls are currently out of danger. Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann stated that the perpetrator was also armed with a firearm. The suspected perpetrator was arrested after the attack. Police continue to urge the public to avoid the area around the school. The SWAT team is searching the entire school complex, which includes the high school and two other schools.
