This is the complete history of the Ramchargers, the legendary group of Chrysler engineers who transformed drag racing forever. Starting with just 25 engineers, 30 dollars each, and a fifty dollar Plymouth, the Ramchargers pioneered technology that still defines modern drag racing today. They created the first tunnel ram intake manifold, developed the first adjustable four link suspension, helped launch the 426 Hemi program, and built the altered wheelbase Mopars that gave birth to the Funny Car class. This video follows the incredible rise of the Ramchargers from their beginnings at the Chrysler Institute of Engineering in Highland Park, Michigan to becoming the first Funny Car team to run in the eight second zone, the seven second zone, and eventually the six second zone. Along the way you’ll see how Tom Hoover, Jim Thornton, Dick Maxwell, Dan Mancini, Dan Knapp, and the rest of the Ramchargers engineering team reshaped motorsports history. The story also explores Clare Sanders’ remarkable career beyond the Ramchargers. From developing Boss Bite traction compound to driving for Jungle Jim Liberman and winning the 1969 NHRA Winternationals, Sanders built a legacy of his own before joining the Ramchargers in 1972 and helping push their Dodge Demon Funny Car to over 229 miles per hour. This is the untold story of engineering, innovation, Funny Cars, Mopar performance, and the people who changed drag racing forever. watch next : • Could Malcolm Durham Have Become the Bigge... • The Day a Chevrolet Vega Humiliated Every ... • The Most Hated Drag Car Ever?
