BTA!! Dr Candice Matthews and The City Whip Some A$$ at The Life of Jackson Square
City of Houston Issues More Than 15 Citations at Life of Jackson Square Apartments Following Major Inspection Dr. Candice Matthews, several journalists, and more than 20 City of Houston officials conducted a large-scale inspection of The Life of Jackson Square Apartments, formerly known as Nob Hill Apartments, uncovering what officials described as severe and dangerous living conditions throughout the property. During the walkthrough, inspectors and media crews documented numerous egregious code violations across the complex. Among the most alarming discoveries were vacant apartment units that had clearly been broken into and heavily vandalized, widespread rat and roach infestations, large amounts of rat droppings, burned-out apartment units that residents were still occupying, and a long list of additional health and safety concerns. City officials issued more than 15 citations against the property during the inspection. The violations reportedly carry fines ranging from $250 to $2,000 per day for each individual citation, potentially exposing the property owners and management to significant financial penalties if the violations are not corrected quickly. Officials further explained that failure to pay the citations or comply with city requirements could eventually result in warrants being issued for responsible parties connected to the property’s management. According to Dr. Matthews, this is the worst apartment complex her team has encountered so far in their ongoing series exposing dangerous living conditions at Houston-area apartment communities. The inspection is part of a growing effort by activists, journalists, and city officials to crack down on substandard housing conditions across Houston. Dr. Matthews says her team plans to continue visiting troubled apartment complexes and documenting unsafe conditions affecting residents. “Stay tuned,” Matthews said. “We are only just getting started.” Dr. Matthews is the National Minister of Politics for The New Black Panther Nation.
