After a history lesson with Mr. Antônio Monteiro, a local resident of the village of Pontal do Padre Cícero in Farias Brito, Ceará, I continued my journey on the small road to Assaré, which Google indicated was BR 230. It was around 1:30 PM when I stopped at Jarim's Bar in the small village of Amaro, belonging to the municipality of Assaré. I was looking for a nice "PF" (a typical Brazilian dish). They didn't have it, but in compensation, the bar prepared a huge portion of meat, onion, and tomato, which was delicious and served as my lunch. The experience of being in a bar in the middle of the Ceará backlands eating that wonderful portion and observing the way of life and behavior of the local residents is priceless. These are the experiences that only a solo motorcycle or bicycle trip provides and that remain etched in our memory. After a fun 47 km of dirt road from Farias Brito, I arrived in the city of Assaré. I then passed through Antonina do Norte, Campos Sales, and arrived at the border between Ceará and Piauí, where I rejoined the BR 230, the famous Trans-Amazonian Highway. It was almost 5:20 PM when I arrived in the first city in Piauí, Fronteiras. I stopped there and asked some police officers how many kilometers away the next city was, to see if it was worth continuing the trip. They told me that I would reach the next city about 30 km ahead, and even suggested a place for me to stay. I continued and caught a beautiful sunset on the road. I arrived in the city of Vila Nova do Piauí and stayed at the Vila Nova Combustíveis gas station. A very new establishment with amazing rooms.
