Backpacking Idaho’s Alice-Toxaway Loop | 8 Trout & Fresh Fish for Breakfast

Spend Fourth of July weekend with us as we take on Idaho’s legendary Alice-Toxaway Loop in the Sawtooth Mountains! This one-night backpacking trip had everything we could ask for—crystal-clear alpine lakes, incredible mountain views, wildlife, and some unforgettable trout fishing. We hiked in to Alice Lake, set up camp, and spent the evening fishing before waking up to an unforgettable alpine sunrise. The morning bite was on, and we caught 4 trout before breakfast, cooking up fresh trout right at camp. Between Alice Lake and Petit Lake, we ended the trip with 8 trout on a spinning rod. The adventure wasn’t just about fishing. On the drive into the Sawtooths, we spotted plenty of deer and elk, and along the trail we saw pikas, squirrels, and chipmunks while hiking through some of Idaho’s most beautiful backcountry. Day two tested us with a long 12–13 mile hike back to the trailhead. It was a tough finish after a full weekend of hiking and fishing, but every mile was worth it. If you enjoy backpacking, alpine lake fishing, camping, and exploring the Sawtooth Mountains, this adventure is for you. 👍 If you enjoyed the video, please like, subscribe, and leave a comment letting us know: • Have you hiked the Alice-Toxaway Loop? • What’s your favorite backpacking meal? • Would you cook fresh trout for breakfast?
