It's not the boat that's moving fast, but the current itself that's fast. ◽️ Characteristics of Vertical Tip Run The basic fishing method for vertical tip run in strong currents is similar to that of drifting tip run. You don't re-cast the lure (reel it in and drop it back down) after just one or two hits to the bottom. This is because the point can change in an instant while you're dropping the rig again, so once you've cast the rig, once it hits the bottom, reel the handle in about three times to lure the bait, then let it stay for a maximum of 5-10 seconds, then return to the bottom and repeat this process. The distance you raise from the bottom is probably within 2m for vertical baiting, and with tip run baiting, where you repeatedly return to the bottom, the important thing is how well you present the squid to the bigfin reef squid during this 2m fall, which will determine whether you catch one or not. The key is a weight that will allow you to reach the bottom as much as possible.
