This dream became a reality when she and her husband Clive turned fifty. Their life experiences over the years equipped them with the necessary skills and expertise to care for abandoned and vulnerable babies affected by HIV/AIDS. Mary, a trained nurse and midwife, and Clive, a building engineer and pastor, brought invaluable skills to the management of the homes and the organization. ABOUT THE NAIROBI HOME NLHT–Kilimani has been providing a compassionate Christian response to the plight of abandoned and extremely vulnerable babies since 1994, prioritizing those affected by HIV/AIDS. We rescue children aged 0-6 months and can host up to 52 children. These Children Are Housed in Four Units: Isolation and Special Care Unit: This unit cares for babies between 0 and 3 months, who are particularly vulnerable due to their age. Many arrive with low birth weight or medical issues, so our medical team provides extra attention to ensure they receive the necessary care. The Baby Unit: This unit accommodates children aged 4 to 6 months, with a maximum capacity of 12 children at a time. Weaning occurs here, making it a busy unit as caregivers introduce new tastes and foods to the babies. The Alice Hardy (Crawlers) Unit: Children aged 7 months to 1 year old are in this unit, where they learn to crawl, stand, and walk. It is an extremely active unit, requiring caregivers to be constantly alert and attentive. The Roselyn Cottage (Toddlers) Unit: This unit houses children aged one year and above. Some are in the kindergarten bracket, and while we have not been able to enroll them in regular school, caregivers maintain a planned schedule of activities to engage the children.
