The Beatles - Live At Stowe School 1963 (Remixed & Revamped)

List of changes done by Beatle bootleg maker, and remixer Lord Reith, this list was written by him Folded down to mono. There are various noises at the sides in all bootleg versions. Fortunately these seem to cancel out to a large degree when the audio is summed to mono. Speed corrected. The playback starts slow and gets slower as the tape goes on. The recorder was battery powered and therefore had quite a lot speed deviations which are clearly audible on some songs. Tamed the air conditioner. The BL listening rooms have a very loud air conditioner so we're told. This annoyance is mostly focused around the bottom end of the spectrum so I was able to reduce it with ordinary noise reduction focused on that region. The hiss has been left in situ since it is part of the recording. Boosted between song chatter. Paul tended to mutter a bit so his announcements are less clear, but there is a reasonable improvement to John's. Refer to the transcript or activate the LYRICS tab on your player to see the transcript on screen during playback. Players that have lyrics support include Foobar and Black player. Patched missing sections. There were slight interruptions to A Shot Of Rhythm And Blues, Please Please Me and the final I Saw Her Standing There. These have been plugged creatively so that you will not hear them, even if you go looking. :) I should make mention of the little bit of spurious music at the start. It's been said that this is crosstalk from an outside source, but the guy who did the transcript at the British Library also noted this music. A few seconds of violin and clarinet are heard from a distance. John Bloomfield says some light jazz was played over the PA prior to the show. After this John tests the microphone with a line from the music hall number 'Hello, Hello, Who's Your Lady Friend?' a song he likely encountered via his mother. On the original tape 'Money' features an unwelcome guest appearance by The Trashmen whose record 'Surfin' Bird' obliterates most of the song. One would hope that John Bloomfield mistook side 1 of the tape for side 2 and did this accidentally. Or maybe he just didn't like 'Money'? For the record, 'Surfin' Bird' is my least favourite noise of all time. Being three rows back from the mic in front of the stage, there was no way for John Bloomfield to turn the tape over when the recording ran out after 64 minutes. So it all ends rather suddenly in the middle of I Saw Her Standing There. A Stowe schoolboy's letter home suggests that The Beatles played two further songs: Sweet Little Sixteen and Long Tall Sally. Armed with this piece of information I have Gerry-rigged two Star Club recordings to emulate what might have come afterwards. Songs common to both tapes reveal performances that were extremely similar, so this may not actually be very far off. And it does at least give the show an ending, albeit a fantasy one.
