나주시립합창단·한국합창작곡가협회 특별연주회 '창작합창의 향연 – 봄을 기다리는 합창의 선율' Naju Civic Choir & Korean Choral Composers Association Special Concert ‘A Feast of Choral Compositions – Melodies of Choirs Waiting for Spring’ 김바하 작곡가 노트 이 곡은 시인 김소월의 시 "바람과 봄"에 선율을 붙인 곡이다. 이 시는, 봄을 묘사하며 바람과 꽃, 가지 등 자연적 이미지를 반복적으로 사용해 화자의 감정을 자연과 밀접하게 연결하고, 봄날의 자연을 배경으로 바람이 불고, 그 바람에 흔들리는 꽃들을 표현하며, 이것은 곧 인간 내면의 흔들림을 비유하는 것이다. 봄바람은 새로운 희망과 활기를 불어넣는 동시에, 화자에게 내면적 감춰진 슬픔과 허무함을 함께 암시한다. 본래 봄과 꽃을 연상하면, 화사하고 아름다운 것들이 아닌가? 그 바람에서 흔들리는 꽃들은 자신의 감정적 동요를 이야기하며, 봄의 밝고 생명력 있는 이미지 속에서 나타나는 울음은 화자의 내면 깊은 곳에 자리한 슬픈 감정임을 드러낸다. 화자의 감정적 기쁨과 슬픔이 동시에 드러나며 감정의 복합성을 표현한 시이다. 도입부에서 봄의 나른함을 표현한 피아노 반주의 화성진행을 시작으로, 마치 봄 바람에 살랑살랑 흔들리는 어린잎들과, 새로운 생명력이 움트는 봄의 모습을 표현하였다. 곳곳에 봄과 바람을 연상케 하는 요소들이 많이 나오는데, 설레이면서도 싱숭생숭한 이 감정의 변화들을 다양한 색채의 화성으로 표현 하였고, 여성의 허밍, 대비가 큰 익스프레션의 빈번한 사용, 셋 잇단음표 등을 통해 바람과 그 바람에 흔들리는 꽃과 가지들을 연상시키며, 그것이 곧 인간의 감정적 변화를 표현 하고자 한 것이다. 대놓고 울 수 있는 슬픔이 아니라, 겉으로는 웃고있지만, 속으로는 꺼이꺼이 울고있는 어른의 슬픔 같은 내면적 감정.. 살랑살랑 봄바람을 시작으로, 허무함과 한탄의 마음을 쏟아내는 감정을 곡으로 표현해보았다. 비록 소월은 "꽃이라 술잔이라 하며 우노라"로 시를 맺었지만, 그럼에도 불구하고 그의 봄은 찬란하고 아름다웠길 바라며 "꽃이라 하노라"로 끝맺어 보았다. Composer’s Note – Kim Baha This piece is a musical setting of the poem Wind and Spring by the poet Kim Sowol. The poem vividly portrays spring, employing recurring natural imagery such as wind, flowers, and branches, intertwining the speaker’s emotions with nature. Against the backdrop of a spring day, the wind blows, making the flowers tremble—an allegory for the wavering emotions within the human heart. The spring breeze brings both new hope and vitality while simultaneously hinting at the speaker’s hidden sorrow and emptiness. Spring and flowers are typically associated with brightness and beauty, are they not? However, in this poem, the flowers swaying in the wind symbolize the turbulence of one’s emotions. The weeping that emerges amidst the vibrant, life-filled imagery of spring reveals the profound sorrow that resides deep within the speaker. The poem captures the coexistence of joy and sorrow, reflecting the complexity of human emotions. The piece begins with a harmonic progression in the piano accompaniment that conveys the languid mood of spring. This introduction depicts the tender swaying of young leaves in the breeze and the awakening of new life. Throughout the piece, various elements evoke the feeling of spring and the wind—restless and fleeting emotions are expressed through a rich palette of harmonic colors. The use of a female humming voice, frequent dynamic contrasts, and triplet figures illustrate the wind’s movement and the trembling of flowers and branches, symbolizing human emotional shifts. The piece aims to convey an inner sorrow not openly displayed—a sadness akin to that of an adult who smiles on the outside but weeps silently within. From the gentle caress of the spring breeze to the outpouring of resignation and lament, this composition seeks to encapsulate the emotional journey embedded within the poem.
