The Southern Axis Road project, invested and constructed by Cienco 5 Real Estate Development Joint Stock Company under the Build-Transfer (BT) model since 2008, aims to create a new road connecting Ha Dong through the southern districts of the former Ha Tay province (now part of Hanoi), serving socio-economic development needs and reducing traffic congestion on National Highway 21B and the old National Highway 1A. The project passes through Kien Hung and Phu Luong wards (formerly Ha Dong district), Cu Khe, My Hung, Tam Hung, Thanh Thuy, Thanh Van, Tan Uoc, Lien Chau, and Hong Duong communes (formerly Thanh Oai district), Phuong Tu, Trung Tu, Hoa Lam, Tram Long, Dai Hung, Kim Duong, Dai Cuong, and Dong Lo communes (formerly Ung Hoa district), and Hong Minh, Tri Trung, Phu Tuc, Hoang Long, and Chau Can communes (formerly Phu Xuyen district) in Hanoi according to the old administrative boundaries. According to the new administrative boundaries, it belongs to Kien Hung and Phu Luong wards and Binh Minh, Tam Hung, Dan Hoa, Van Dinh, Ung Hoa, Phuong Duc, and Chuyen My communes in Hanoi. The total investment after adjustment is over 5,566 billion VND. The segment from Km0+060 to Km18+560: All items have been completed and handed over for operation since 2019. The segment from Km18+560 to Km26+000: Completed and put into operation since February 2026.
