African Parks' Amazing Journey: The 500 Elephants Campaign
Elephants are the largest land animals in the world. These majestic creatures can reach a height of four metres and can weigh up to a staggering seven tonnes. Due to the increasing pressure of poaching and human and wildlife conflict, they are under serious threat across Africa. Their numbers are dwindling. Their future, as we know it, is at great risk. So what can we do to help? African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation that aims to protect wildlife by managing Africa's national parks. In collaboration with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, they plan to safely move over 500 elephants from two parks in Malawi. These parks are at full capacity and habitat degradation is occurring in both. The elephants will be transported on a 215-mile journey to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.
