February 2022, driving to Sierra Nevada, Spain. You can drive by car via one of the highest roads in Europe. The road A-395 is a winding mountain road. It was built in 1925, but in 1996 Sierra Nevada held the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship and road was improved. Sierra Nevada means mountain range covered with snow. It is located in the region of Andalucia in the province of Granada, Spain. If no much traffic it will take 30 - 40 minutes drive from Granada. It is a popular destination for skiing. It is Europe's southernmost ski resort. The skiing season can last from late November until the start of May. Sierra Nevada is the 3rd highest mountain range in Europe. It's peaks are the highest in the Iberian peninsula with more than 20 mountain peaks above 3000 meters altitude. It's contain the highest point of continental Spain, Mulhacen. Mount Mulhacen rises to 22,424 feet (3,484 meters) and it is considered to be the roof of Iberian peninsula.
