For the blues you play—Clapton, BB King, SRV, Hendrix—all you need are 12 two-finger patterns, six up and six down. You play them on the blues pentatonic scale, thirty seconds each, and your left hand changes pace. In it, you'll also find the trick no one tells you: don't play these patterns up and down the neck in "scale" mode. Swap strings, change positions, and improvise. It's technique, but it's also music.
