Following the proclamation of the State of Israel in 1948, the majority of Jewish populations were forced to leave Arab countries. In 1965, at the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council, the Church put an end to two thousand years of anti-Judaism. After a period of relative calm in the 1960s, antisemitism took on new forms.
