Newly Refurbished Hotel Villa España Benidorm – Worth Booking?

Hotel Villa España in Benidorm Old Town has recently been refurbished and offers spotless rooms, friendly staff and a fantastic breakfast. However, during my stay many of the advertised facilities were unavailable, including the spa, gym and suspended pool. Here's my full honest review. During my recent stay at Hotel Villa España in Benidorm Old Town, I found the experience to be a mixture of positives and disappointments. The hotel has recently been refurbished, and one thing that immediately stood out was how clean and modern the rooms were. Everything looked fresh, tidy, and well maintained. The housekeeping team did a fantastic job throughout my stay, and I couldn't fault the cleanliness anywhere in the hotel. The staff were also one of the highlights of the visit. Everyone I encountered was polite, friendly, and willing to help whenever I had a question. Customer service was excellent from check-in right through to departure, and the staff deserve a lot of credit for making guests feel welcome. The location is another major plus. Situated in the heart of Benidorm Old Town, the hotel is surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The beach is only a short walk away, making it an ideal base for anyone wanting to explore the old town without relying on taxis or public transport. Unfortunately, despite the impressive website and promotional photographs, I felt that the reality didn't quite live up to expectations. Many of the facilities that attracted me to the hotel either weren't available or couldn't be accessed during my stay. The free Wi-Fi was available, but the signal was poor and unreliable at times, which was frustrating when trying to browse the internet or upload content. I also visited the spa and gym area hoping to make use of the facilities that are advertised, but I was unable to gain access. This was disappointing, especially as these facilities are featured prominently on the hotel's website and promotional material. One of the features I was most looking forward to seeing was the suspended pool. Unfortunately, this was closed and appeared to be out of use during my stay. The outdoor pool area itself was also rather disappointing and didn't match the expectations created by the website photos. I decided to head up to the rooftop terrace, which does offer some pleasant views of the surrounding area. However, when I attempted to get a drink from the bar on the seventh floor, I was informed that I needed to go back to reception and pay a €5 charge for a cup before I could be served. This seemed unnecessarily complicated and took away from what should have been a relaxing rooftop experience. The standout feature of the hotel was undoubtedly the breakfast. The selection was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options available. Everything was well presented, regularly replenished, and of good quality. It was easily the best part of my stay and something I genuinely looked forward to each morning. Overall, Hotel Villa España has several strengths, including its excellent location, spotless refurbished rooms, helpful staff, and superb breakfast. However, I was left disappointed by the lack of access to several advertised facilities, including the spa, gym, suspended pool, and other amenities. If these facilities had been available, my overall impression would have been much more positive.
