A short excerpt from "The Return of the Saint" The complete historical documentary is available for FREE here: https://tecatv.com/il-ritorno-del-san... The Return of the Saint. Just one year after his death, Pope Gregory IX canonized Brother Anthony. It was May 23, 1232. Padua celebrated the first anniversary of the Saint's death with festive jubilation. Miracles and prodigious events flourished around his humble tomb located in the convent's small church, so pilgrims flocked from all over the world to venerate him. Thus was born the decision to erect a great monument: a church worthy of the wonderful apostle so beloved and admired. On April 8, 1263, an extraordinary event occurred: 32 years after Saint Anthony's death, his first burial was opened, and among the remains of dust and bones, a completely intact part of his body—his tongue—appeared. On January 6, 1981, after more than 700 years, the tomb of Saint Anthony was reopened for an examination of his relics. Scientific examinations of the remains were entrusted to experts in the field. Those present knew they were witnessing a historic event that was being reconstructed centuries later. Source: 16mm film, sound, color.
