Life with Aaron Arnold -    / @lifewithaaronarnold   Why Berlin Is Unlike Any Other City in Europe | American Reacts An American reacts to one of the most fascinating city history videos I've ever seen — and I genuinely had no idea what I was about to learn. Today I'm reacting to Why Berlin is the Opposite of Every European City, and honestly? My mind was blown multiple times throughout this video. From the Hobrecht Plan of 1862 that pre-built infrastructure for a city that didn't even exist yet, to the insane fact that 80% of Berlin's inner city was destroyed in World War II, to the Ghost Stations hidden beneath a divided city — Berlin's story is unlike anything I've encountered in my American reaction journey through Europe so far. As an American reacting to European cities, I'm used to being surprised. But Berlin hit different. The idea that a city was literally split in two by two competing superpowers — and that you can still see the difference on a map today — is something I never learned growing up in the US. The tram networks, the S-Bahn boycott, the Ringbahn, the fact that 44% of the city is green space — this is a city that has been destroyed, divided, rebuilt, and reimagined more than almost any other place on Earth. This is exactly the kind of European city reaction content I want to keep making. There is so much about Europe that Americans simply don't know — and Berlin might be the biggest example of that.
