Salvage radiotherapy in biochemically recurrent prostate cancer
Alan Dal Pra, MD, University of Miami, Miami, FL, discusses the role of salvage radiotherapy for local recurrence after radiotherapy. Whilst PSMA PET and biopsies are important in terms of treatment management, there is no standard of care management strategy. Multiple studies have suggested salvage brachytherapy and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) to be efficacious in certain groups of patients. Patients with negative PSMA PET scores additionally have better clinical outcomes when receiving salvage radiotherapy. This interview took place at the ASCO GU Cancers Symposium 2024 in San Francisco, CA.
