‘Hope in a Crack Epidemic’ investigates the growing crack cocaine epidemic in Ireland focusing in particular on the West Dublin area of Tallaght. Tallaght’s struggles with crack cocaine and follows a group of young mothers in a programme as they seek help for their addiction. The programme is the first of its kind in Ireland focusing on mental health and contingency management. It’s helped many young mothers get back on track with their lives and mitigate their addiction. The documentary by filmmaker Patrick Doran explores in depth what these women go through daily and how the program is crucial for them to get back on their feet.
