How to use an opamp with a single supply

How to use an opamp with a single supply We normally use a split supply with an opamp. +12V and -12V for instance, that gives the opamp 24V to swing. But sometimes you may not want, or be able to use a split supply to power your opamp. If thats the case, you can a virtual ground. It works with virtually all opamps and will work in MOST situations. The caviat is the swing. If you you only have a 12VDC supply, then your opamp can only swing 12V (actually it's more like 10V unless you are using a rail-to-rail opamp) To create the virtual ground, run a capacitor divider, and a resistor divider (c1=c2, r1=r2) in parallel and connect the non-inverting input(for a non-inverting amplifier conect to inverting input) to this virtual ground. It will be at 1/2 Vcc. wire the rest of your amplifier as you normally would. ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ Please watch: "Diodes: The basic building block of all digital circuits"    • Diodes: The basic building block of all di...   ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
