I thought self-love meant feeling good. I was wrong. Sadness isn’t bad. Anger isn’t wrong. Fear isn’t weakness. Emotions are our messengers. Resistance creates suffering. Suffering is not truly loving ourselves. Self-love is staying in that moment now, dropping the labels I attached to emotions that I didn’t welcome in my experience . The moment I chose to stop abandoning my emotions by labeling them, I stopped abandoning myself. My self love was able to deepen.
