What few people know is that they were also the first duo to record with a foreign artist. The brothers began their careers playing drums at dances in their hometown. In 1973, Meirinho moved to São Paulo to pursue his artistic career. He formed a trio with Tibagi and Miltinho, where he played the accordion. He worked in several nightclubs. With his brother's arrival in São Paulo, they recorded their first album in 1975, a mixed LP titled "Linha Sertaneja Classe A," where they performed the song "Tu Tá Cumeno Vrido." Their first major success was in the seventies with the song "Tu Tá Cumeno Vrido," which sold 1 million records at the time and almost became a carnival march. In the early 80s, it was inevitable: the album with the hit song "A Noite do Nosso Amor," along with successes like "Sanfona Furada," "Fungado na Barra," and "Pranto Escondido," reached the impressive mark of "1.4 million records." Numerous other successes emerged throughout their career, such as "Lágrimas," which earned them two more platinum and two gold records, as well as "Vamos Lá Pra Ver," "Tô Naquela que Jogaram na Geni," among many others. They were also part of the cast of the film "O Menino da Porteira," one of the highest-grossing films of all time in Brazilian cinema. For years, they were the stars of the "Linha Sertaneja Classe A" on "Rádio Record." Renowned not only as performers but also as excellent composers, they are responsible for countless hits, including the song "Vá Pro Inferno com Seu Amor" (Go to Hell with Your Love), a song that remains one of the most played throughout Brazil. To this day, they are remembered as one of the best live acts in sertanejo music, and many big names are inspired by their memorable stage performances! The story of this fabulous duo was interrupted on June 29, 2002, with the passing of Meirinho. After this loss, Roberto took a break from his career and resumed activities in 2006, releasing two solo albums as Roberto Meirin, honoring his brother. In 2007, due to numerous requests and suggestions from friends, he joined his talent and experience with Meirinho's son, his nephew Meirinho Jr.
