Chagwido Island, with an area of ​​0.16 square kilometers, is an uninhabited island located in Gosan-ri, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju City. It is located approximately 2 kilometers from the port of Gosan-ri, a 10-minute boat ride away. Located in the western waters of Jeju, Chagwido Island boasts breathtaking natural scenery, steep coastal cliffs, and bizarre rock formations. Around Chagwido Island are smaller islands such as Jukdo, Jisili Island, and Wado. This island boasts a striking appearance, and even when faced with fierce waves, it exudes a sense of majesty and resoluteness, captivating those who witness it. Chagwido Island, long a favorite among fishermen, was designated a nature reserve and off-limits until late 2011, when dead trees were removed, the floor and safety barriers around the observatory were installed, and the internal roads were renovated. After 30 years, it was finally opened to the public. The island is said to be home to 82 plant species, including 13 species of trees, including Japanese pine, black pine, and money tree, and 62 species of herbs, including Haenyeo beans and Aster japonica. The surrounding sea is deep and rich in various fish species, making it a place of significant scientific value for marine life, animals, and plants. Accordingly, it was designated and managed as a national natural monument on July 18, 2000. Chagwido Jisil-i Island, long known as a prime fishing spot, is sharing a video of Chagwido in autumn.
