Carlsen's King's Indian Attack Beats Xiong in 27 Moves
This is a blitz chess game between Magnus Carlsen and Jeffery Xiong from Round 9 of the Early Titled Tuesday held on July 8th, 2025. The game begins with the King's Indian Attack, as Xiong chooses a kingside fianchetto setup. The position sharpens after an f6 pawn break, and soon leads to a tactical sequence. Carlsen aims to win the exchange, but his idea turns out to be flawed. However, Xiong misses the critical chance to punish the error and turn the tables. #MagnusCarlsen #JefferyXiong #KingsIndianAttack Image of Magnus Carlsen by Lennart Ootes lennartootes.com I'm a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8.
