Good players will do their best to not put themselves in position to be spacing trapped. However, the opponent being forced to play around spacing traps makes Lucas' other tools improve in effectiveness. A player who is scared to run shield at lucas without threat of zair pressure, will have a harder time getting in against pk fire zoning. A player who does not commit to holding shield is more likely to get mixed up by down tilt frame traps. It is often the threat of a spacing trap that provides more value than the trap itself.
