☢ Radiation in the Techa River. Village of Muslyumovo. Hello, friends, supporters, and subscribers! Sergey Belkin, stalker and dosimetrist, is back with you. In the fall of 2025, I had the opportunity to travel to a very interesting place in terms of radiation – the radioactive Techa River. It originates in special reservoirs on the closed territory of the Mayak Production Association. The history of the Techa River's contamination dates back to the early 20th century, when the Soviet Union was developing its first atomic bomb. For this purpose, the first nuclear reactors were built, producing a few grains of weapons-grade plutonium per ton of uranium fuel. The reactors were dirty, with a once-through core cooling system. The core was cooled by pressurized water. All the dirty water was discharged into settling ponds next to the Mayak plant. Scientists thought the heavy uranium elements would settle to the bottom of the lake. And they drained quite nicely into the only river flowing from these special reservoirs. This river turned out to be the Techa River. Subsequently, over several decades, nuclear production polluted the entire Techa River floodplain up to its confluence with the Iset River. I took on the task of assessing the extent of contamination of the Techa River with reactor radionuclides on September 6, 2025. See all the details in the film.
