News Words: Epiphany
Welcome to the Voice of America’s News Words. New computer software uses eyeglasses to assist people who have problems hearing. EPIPHANY The XRAI Glass software connects a smartphone to the user’s glasses, where the words of their discussion appear. The software’s cofounder said he had an epiphany after seeing his grandfather, who has a loss of hearing, reading captions on a television screen. In this example, an epiphany is a sudden understanding or discovery. Some call it an “Aha!” moment. Epiphany can also refer to the appearance of a godly being.
