Discover how to transform your garden into a flowering paradise next spring, without spending a penny. Simple steps, spectacular results: learn to divide your perennials like a pro in just a few minutes! How to divide perennials: a practical guide by Hubert Fontaine Want to multiply your perennials for free? This tutorial video presents three perennial division techniques accessible to all gardeners, even beginners. Dividing daylilies: the trumpeter of the garden The daylily, a spectacular and robust plant, needs to be divided every 4 to 5 years to maintain its vibrancy. The technique involves lifting the clump to a depth of 20 cm and dividing it by hand or with a knife. The roots will have tubers, a sign of good health. Cut back the leaves to 10 cm from the base and dip the roots in a slurry of potting soil to encourage establishment. Plant three plants in a circle in a 30 cm hole, without adding fertilizer if the soil is rich. Propagating Aubrieta: A Cascade of Spring Flowers Aubrieta transforms borders and low walls into cascades of mauve, purple, or pink flowers. This ground cover is ideally divided in summer. Cut the stems to 30 cm from the base, lift the clump, and shorten it to 5 cm from the base. Transplant the divisions into small pots with universal potting soil and place them in the shade to avoid summer scorching. Propagating Stachys: Rabbit's Ears Stachys (rabbit's ears) is extremely easy to propagate. Its velvety, silvery foliage quickly spreads. Water before lifting the clump, then collect 5-10 cm rhizomes with roots. Plant them in a sand-potting mix in frost-resistant pots (3 plants per 30 cm pot). Cut back the foliage and leave them outdoors for beautiful silvery leaves in the spring. Dividing perennials in summer guarantees a colorful garden the following spring, an economical and ecological way to beautify your green space. 0:00 - Propagating and dividing perennials 0:17 - Daylily, dividing the garden trumpet flower 2:05 - Aubrieta, dividing the ground cover plant 3:47 - Stachys, propagating the rabbit ears 5:14 - Conclusion, gardening in bloom in spring ====== Lunar calendar, monthly gardening tasks, planting, harvesting, pet care tips, and natural wellness and home care... you'll find 100% practical tips and tricks on our video channel to help you every day.
