Why Europe is the world's fastest warming continent | DW News
A day that was the hottest of the year here in Germany, peaking up to nearly 40 degrees Celcius in some places. Europe's been baking under unusually high temperatures for the time of the year. Officials in France say two people have died of heat-related illness and hundreds have been hospitalized. In Spain, authorities said a wildfire broke out during a fourth day of stifling temperatures, sending out a huge cloud of ash and smoke. Two farmers died, apparently trying to flee the blaze. Attractions across the continent, including the Eiffel Tower in Paris had to be closed because of the extreme heat. Relief is now in sight, but long-term temperatures are trending up. The EU's climate change service says Europe is now the fastest-warming continent. 00:00 Europe: The fastest warming continent 03:41 Brenda Ekwurzel, Climate scientist 09:21 Carl-Friedrich Schleussner, Humboldt University For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Instagram: / dwnews ►TikTok: / dwnews ►Facebook: / deutschewellenews ►Twitter: / dwnews Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: / dwdeutsch Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutsche... #climatechange #heat #europe
