Coffee Table Build That Pushes Back On Wood Movement

This oak coffee table has a solid walnut border wrapped around the entire top — and by most rules of wood movement, that shouldn't survive more than a season or two. I built it specifically to test a theory: that standing the boards on edge and gluing them face to face redirects wood movement into the thickness of the table instead of across its face, protecting the border from ever having to fight it. I sat on this footage for 17 months to prove it actually worked — not just claim it.
