King's Field (1994) is FromSoftware's 1st Fantastic Game
REVIEW: King's Field is a first person action RPG developed by From Software that came out just a week and a half after the PS1's 1994 Japanese launch. Long before Elden Ring, Bloodbourne, Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, and even before Armored Core, Shadow Tower and Echo Night, From Software got its start with King's Field...it's basically the great grandfather of many of the company's popular games, and was quite a revolutionary title for 1994 and on console. Be careful not to confuse this game with one of the same name that was released in the West, which is actually King's Field II. IGFTW Ep. 45 is a full review of this original, Japan exclusive KF, talking about gameplay, story and legacy. In retrospect, it was a humble begining, but King's Field paved the way for From Software to become one of the most beloved and critically game studios in the modern era.
