Revisiting Mass Effect 2 in 2026 | Kasumi’s Loyalty Mission (Legendary Edition Playthrough Ep. 17)
Episode 17 of our Mass Effect 2 playthrough begins with one of the most unique missions in the entire game: a high-stakes heist alongside master thief Kasumi Goto. After tracking Kasumi down on the Citadel, Shepard learns the details of their arrangement. In exchange for joining the mission against the Collectors, Cerberus has agreed to help Kasumi recover a priceless item: the graybox belonging to her late partner, Keiji Okuda. The problem? The graybox is currently in the possession of notorious criminal Donovan Hock. To retrieve it, Shepard and Kasumi infiltrate Hock's lavish party and begin preparing for a vault break-in. Gaining access requires: Hock's fingerprints A voiceprint password Disabling a powerful kinetic barrier Through a combination of stealth, investigation, and a little chaos, the pair gradually assemble everything they need. Inside the vault they discover one of the strangest collections in the galaxy, packed with priceless artifacts and easter eggs, including: The head of the Statue of Liberty Michelangelo's David A familiar Dragon Age reference Countless rare alien treasures But when Kasumi finally retrieves Keiji's graybox, Hock reveals that he anticipated her arrival all along. What follows is an explosive escape sequence that culminates in a rooftop battle against Hock and his heavily armed gunship. After Kasumi disables its defenses with a daring leap onto the aircraft, Shepard finishes the fight and secures the graybox. The mission concludes with a difficult emotional decision. The graybox contains evidence that Keiji uncovered sensitive information implicating the Alliance, but it also contains Kasumi's memories of the man she loved. Rather than destroying it, Shepard encourages Kasumi to keep the graybox and preserve those memories. With Kasumi recruited, Shepard turns attention toward another prospective squadmate: Jack. The trail leads to a prison space station run by Warden Kuril, who claims to specialize in housing the galaxy's most dangerous criminals. The deeper Shepard ventures into the facility, however, the more troubling its operation appears. Eventually Kuril reveals his true intentions. Instead of releasing Jack, he plans to capture Shepard and sell her to the highest bidder. The episode ends with Shepard fighting through the prison's security forces and finally reaching the chamber where Jack is being held. #MassEffect2 #KasumiGoto #Jack #MassEffectLegendaryEdition #MassEffectPlaythrough
