Turning Evidence into Decisions: An introduction for ICBs

How can we make better use of the evidence we already have? This Lunch and Learn offers a practical, supportive introduction to using evidence in commissioning and decision-making within ICBs. Together, we’ll explore how relevant, high-quality evidence can help shape priorities, improve outcomes, and support confident, sustainable decisions across complex systems. We will explore how to align evidence with commissioning priorities ensuring it reflects the needs of local populations, providers, and system pressures. We will also acknowledge some common early challenges, particularly around evaluation, monitoring, and sharing evidence, and share simple, practical ways to start addressing them. A key focus will be on making evidence easier to use. Rather than producing more reports, we’ll explore how to turn what we already know into clear, accessible insights that support real-world decisions on key priorities including integrated neighbourhood health, population health and strategic commissioning. Finally, we’ll highlight the support available through ARC Yorkshire and Humber to help build confidence and capability in this space. Our Guest Speakers: Tammy Jaques – Strategic Evidence Partner (WYICB) and Transformation Lead ( YH ARC / IA) Juan Winter – Strategic Evidence Partner (HNY ICB) Nicola Chicken – Strategic Evidence Partner (SY ICB) Speaker's Bio We are the Knowledge Mobilisation team within the Applied Research Collaboration Yorkshire and Humber, working as a strategic evidence partner alongside our regional ICBs. Our role is to help translate evidence into clear, actionable insight that strengthens evidence-based decision-making and improves outcomes across the system. By working collaboratively across organisations, we help embed evidence into practice, enabling teams to act with confidence and deliver measurable impact.
