Internal Gear Pump Explained
Internal Gear Pumps An internal gear pump uses an externally toothed gear (the inner drive gear) nested inside an internally toothed gear (the outer rotor). Mechanism: The inner gear has fewer teeth than the outer gear. A crescent-shaped spacer or seal (part of the casing) sits between the two gears to fill the void created by the off-center mounting and keeps the suction and discharge zones separate. Advantages: Excellent for highly viscous fluids, very quiet operation, low pulsation, and better suction lift/priming capabilities. Limitations: Limited pressure rating compared to heavy-duty external gear pumps, more complex geometry, and higher manufacturing costs. #pump #positivedisplacementpump #gearpump #fluidmechanicsandhydraulicmachines #mechanicalengineering #youtubeshorts #shortsfeed
