2021 06 28 Rescue on Great Gable - Arrow Head Gulley v5
A nine hour rescue for the Wasdale team running from one day into early morning the next. Two walkers on Great Napes, Great Gable in Wasdale - luckily they decided to hold their position above a considerable drop in Arrow Head Gulley. A very slippery and loose area with rock falls a real risk for both rescuers and casualties. Mountain rescue teams are all separate charities with around 40 volunteer team members. No one in mountain rescue receives any payment for the rescues they undertake. There are around 400 team members in the 12 rescue teams across Cumbria dealing with around 600 incidents a year.
