The great-great-great-grandson of King Ludwig I is not only the head of the Adabeltine line of the House of Wittelsbach with all the duties and responsibilities that come with it, he was always the "Poldi" - a racing driver who was close to his fans and not only attracted attention with wild driving maneuvers on the track, but who also never missed out on having fun off the slopes throughout his life. The numerous pranks of the "Trio Infernale", consisting of his still closest friends Strietzel Stuck and Dieter Quester, resulted in bans from many a hotel and were feared by team bosses and competitors alike, as well as loved by the press and motorsport fans.
