I Created Virginia’s First Cross-State Overland Route - Exploring the Virginia Adventure Trail

After years of scouting remote roads across Appalachia, I finally connected Virginia’s first cross-state overland route. In this episode, I'm joined by ‪@JourneyBeyondOverland‬, to begin the first multi-day expedition across the Virginia Adventure Trail — a 675-mile journey through remote mountain roads, isolated forests, historic backcountry towns, and some of the most rugged terrain on the East Coast. The Virginia Adventure Trail was designed to connect Virginia’s public lands and hidden backroads into a continuous overland route stretching across the mountains of western Virginia. The VAT combines scenic forest roads, technical terrain, remote camping, and Appalachian history into a true East Coast overland experience. Over the course of this first leg of the journey, we navigate rocky mountain trails, remote campsites, river crossings, and changing weather conditions deep in the Appalachian backcountry as we attempt the impossible task of completing the route in 3 days.
