CROATIA: SERB REFUGEES FLEE FROM ADVANCING CROAT MILITARY UPDATE
(2 May 1995) Eng/Serbo-Croat/Nat Croatian government war planes struck a key bridge connecting Croatian and Bosnian Serb territories for the second time on Tuesday as the worst fighting in Croatia in over two years entered its second day. Some 5-thousand refugees fleeing from the fighting are heading into northern Bosnia. Croatian government war planes struck Tuesday at the Sava bridge connecting Croatian and Bosnian Serb territories as the worst fighting in more than two years went into its second day. It was the second air attack in two days on the bridge at Bosanska Gradiska, a Bosnian border town about 120 kilometres (75 miles) southeast of Zagreb. The bridge span has been damaged but the structure is still standing . Reports say Croatian artillery has been firing on it and on a nearby highway connecting Zagreb and Belgrade through Croatian Serb territory. The town itself is almost deserted. Meanwhile, Croatian Serb soldiers and refugees have been fleeing from the Croatian army advance assault to the relative safety of bosnian-serb held territory in Bosnia, many over the damaged bridge across the river near Bosanska Gradiska.
