Wyly Fire Grows To 1,023 Acres After Semi-Truck Trailer Fire Along Highway 58
June 13, 2026 At approximately 2:30 p.m., Kern County Fire Department crews responded to a semi-truck trailer that was fully engulfed in flames near Highway 58 and Bellville Road. The fire quickly spread from the trailer into the surrounding vegetation and nearby hillsides, prompting a full vegetation fire response from Kern County Fire Department and assisting agencies. The incident was later named the "Wyly Fire." As of the last report at approximately 5:36 p.m., the fire had been mapped at 1,023 acres. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
