Cancillería pide renuncia de embajadores a dos semanas de cambio de Gobierno
The Colombian Foreign Ministry requested the resignation of the country's ambassadors two weeks before the change of government between Gustavo Petro and Abelardo de la Espriella. The measure complies with Article 91 of Decree Law 274. The instruction was issued by Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio, setting Thursday, July 23, as the deadline for submitting the letters. The law stipulates that heads of diplomatic missions must resign at the end of the corresponding presidential term. The text clarified that career diplomats and consular officers will not lose their special employment benefits.
