Grandiose Skirunde in Südtirol: Legendäre Abfahrten in Gröden
You shouldn't miss these 8 legendary ski runs in Val Gardena in the Dolomites. They include the longest slope in South Tyrol, the beautiful Gardenissima on the Seceda, and the infamous Saslong World Cup run. Have you ever been skiing in Val Gardena? If so, how did you like it? Maybe you even know all eight slopes? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments! *Advertisement All runs of the Legendary 8 at a glance: https://www.valgardena.it/de/urlaub-d... We start the day early. There are at least 8 runs ahead of us. The Legendary 8 alone has a total length of 36 kilometers. Add to that the lift rides and the descents on connecting slopes. To do them all in one day, we'll have to hurry. We start at the Monte Pana lift. The first descent of the day then starts on Mont Seura. The Bravo slope is in front of us, and it's ideal for getting started. We continue below the Sassolungo to Piz Seteur. Here, the Falk slope stretches out. People have been skiing on this slope since the 1940s, making it one of the oldest in Val Gardena. It winds beautifully downhill and has a consistent gradient. No wonder several more were added after this one. We speed back up and next tackle the more technically challenging Ciampinoi. Here, there are some steep sections to overcome. By now, our thighs are really warming up. That's great, because the steepest and longest slopes are still ahead of us, so we're already well-trained. First, there's another scenic highlight: the Cir slope. Below the Cir peaks, the descent winds down towards Vallunga. Especially in the last third, you get the feeling of skiing into nature. The Vallunga itself is still undeveloped and pristine. After that, things get sporty. Now the infamous World Cup downhill awaits us. The Saslong is probably familiar to anyone who watches the elite races on TV year after year. Just a week earlier, World Cup races were held on the famous slope. Now we're on the black Saslong, cruising downhill in short turns. At its steepest point, the slope has a gradient of almost 60%, so it's not to be underestimated. The athletes reach speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour here. We're obviously traveling much slower. Afterward, we take the subway to the other side and up to the Seceda. Up there, the sun really makes its first appearance. We have a fantastic view of the Geisler peaks, the Sella massif, and the Sassolungo. The Catinaccio and the Sciliar are also clearly visible. And up here, La Longia, one of the longest slopes in the Dolomites, begins. It runs a total of 10 kilometers down to the valley. So far, this is probably one of the best slopes of the day in my opinion. On the other side of Ortisei, you can then ski up to the Seiser Alm. For a few years now, there has also been a valley run here. The Pilat slope would then be slope number 7 of our day and thus the penultimate. However, a glance at the clock tells us that we probably won't quite make it this time. So we head straight back up to the Seiser Alm. Then only a long descent awaits us. Before we tackle the Gardenissima, however, we stop off at the Sofie Hut. Here I enjoy pasta with mozzarella. Eating in Val Gardena is always a highlight and always absolutely delicious. This time, we are not disappointed. And then, perhaps the most beautiful descent of all awaits. At least from a panoramic perspective, the Gardenissima impresses with a sensational view. The wide slope still has a great grip even in the afternoon, and the snow is dusting with every turn. It's so much fun. The sun is slowly disappearing, too. And under the last rays of sunshine, we finally whizz back down to St. Christina. We really made the most of this day of skiing. If you're here on a ski vacation, you can also split the runs over several days. I appreciate every thumbs-up if you enjoyed the video, and remember to subscribe so you won't miss anything in the future. Thanks for watching! :)
