Lao Silesu (arr. Singer): Un Peu d'Amour' ('A Little Love, A Little Kiss')
This interesting transcription of a popular song by the Sardinian composer Stanislao (or Lao) Silesu (1883-1953) was made by the talented US composer and arranger Louis ('Lou') C Singer (1913-66). Singer was a child prodigy pianist who later became an arranger for Duke Ellington in the 1930s and 1940s. He was also a percussionist, appearing on sessions in the 1950s with Peggy Lee, Harry Belafonte and others. In this and other commercial piano arrangements, aimed at a domestic market, Singer brings touches of the dance-band and musical theatre scoring of the period to much older songs - making fascinating period piece versions of earlier period pieces. My thumbnail shows a detail from the artwork by Frank M. Barton on an early sheet music edition of the song. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Played by Phillip Sear http://www.psear.co.uk (Email: [email protected] WhatsApp: http://wa.me/441444483794 ) TikTok: / pianogems
