The reopening of Newport Minster with HRH the Duke of Edinburgh
HRH the Duke of Edinburgh joined worshippers at Newport Minster to celebrate the completion of its ambitious project of restoration and refurbishment. He gave a reading as part of a reopening service led by the Bishop of Portsmouth, which also included worship led by students from Christ the King College and music from church and school choirs. Prince Edward, who is the royal patron of the appeal, was also given a tour of the building before the service and was able to see the refurbishment work at close quarters.
