Preço de Celta e Palio e mais luxuoso que carro novo!

Directional headlights, dual-zone digital air conditioning, 6 airbags, traction and stability control. These are some of the features we expect from a brand new car in 2025. But what if I told you there's a car that was launched almost 20 years ago that has all these features? This is a 2008 Citroën C4 VTR – a car that still attracts attention today for its style and equipment list. But then comes the question: Is it worth it? Is it a problematic car as some say? And the suspension, can it handle our Brazilian roads? To answer all this, let's talk about all the positive and negative points and show all the details of this beautiful French lasagna! ------------------------------------- HISTORY Well, let's start with the history of the C4 VTR. The model was launched in Europe at the end of 2004 and arrived in Brazil in 2006, imported from France. It was sold here until 2009, when it stopped being imported to the country. At that time, Brazil was already producing the C4 Pallas, which was its sedan version, and was beginning to produce the 5-door hatchback version. In theory, this would have taken the place of the C4 VTR. Over those years, approximately 4,000 units of the model were imported. For a niche car, that's no small number. -------------------------------- PRICE Okay, Rodrigo. But how much does a C4 VTR like this cost? Today, a C4 VTR costs between 25 and 30 thousand reais. Of course, this value varies considerably, mainly depending on the car's condition and mileage. But beware of those that are too cheap and have many problems. C4 maintenance is not cheap. So remember the saying: there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Citroën. ------------------------------- ENGINE Under the hood we have the well-known 2.0 16v engine, with dual variable valve timing, known as EW10. It runs only on gasoline and generates 143 horsepower and 20.4 kgfm of torque. These are very good numbers for an engine of this era. But we have to remember: Even though it has this sporty look, which would make many an iron envious, it's not a sports car. Even so, its performance is very good. According to its technical specifications, it does 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and can reach up to 207 km/h. Not bad, right? One cool thing is that this engine was used in several cars. In addition to the C4 family, it was also used in the Peugeot 307, 308 and 408. This helps a lot, both in terms of parts prices and maintenance. Speaking of maintenance, the C4's engine is quite robust and resistant. The real problem lies in its electronics, which were quite complex for their time. The BSM, the car's electronic control unit, can malfunction and experience some issues. The same goes for some sensors, such as the ABS sensor. And here's a tip: always prefer original parts, because some aftermarket parts are of much lower quality and last much less than they should. The engine compartment is well organized and blah blah blah… ------------------ TRANSMISSION The transmission is a 5-speed manual. The lever travel is a little long, but OK. At least the gear changes are very good. Another good thing is that the clutch is very light and helps a lot in everyday driving. Rodrigo, is there a C4 VRT with an automatic transmission? Thank goodness that combination didn't exist in Brazil. The C4 VTR is only available with a manual transmission. Thank goodness. But, if you think a C4 VTR is too sporty for you, and you happen to see a C4 Pallas with an automatic transmission, avoid that temptation. It uses the infamous AL4 transmission, which doesn't operate very smoothly and is also known for being fragile and problematic. ---------------- FUEL CONSUMPTION On the other hand, fuel consumption is good for a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine. In the city it gets 8.5 km/l and on the highway it can reach up to 13 km/l. Remember, it's only gasoline. The fuel consumption and performance aren't better only because the C4 VTR is a very heavy car. It weighs almost 1300 kg, which for a mid-size hatchback is not insignificant. And practically half of that weight is in the doors, because oh… Heavy doors… ------------- FUEL TANK Its fuel tank has a capacity of 60 liters, practically the tank of an Opala, encased in a beautiful French body. The cool thing is that this large tank helps with range on the road. NOW A CURIOSITY! Do you know where the name C4 comes from? If you thought it was that explosive compound used in military bombs, you're wrong! C4 comes from a naming logic that Citroën started using in the 2000s. Where the C comes from the brand name itself "Citroën" and the 4 from the size of the car. So, that's why the C3 is a compact, the C4 is a hatchback or mid-size sedan, and the C5 is a large sedan.
