The journey was smooth, despite the heatwave, and the welcoming gifts at the hotel were a pleasant surprise. Dinner by the port was a perfect start to the evening, with a cold beer and delicious food to rejuvenate me for the days ahead. Milos is rich in history and natural beauty, from its abandoned mines that seem like pirate caves to the serene coastline dotted with small caves. The clear, clean waters and peaceful surroundings made for a picturesque exploration. A quick bus ride took me to the ancient Catacombs of Milos, an underground Christian cemetery with a haunting history of over 2,000 individuals. Despite past vandalism, efforts are now in place to preserve this significant site. Wandering through Milos, I stumbled upon many historical and scenic spots, each with its own story. From the bustling port to the tranquil caves and ancient ruins, Milos offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Known for its famous Venus de Milo statue and incredible Sarakiniko beach with its moon-like landscape, the island provides endless opportunities for exploration and relaxation.
