President Javier Milei visited Mercado Libre's offices in the Saavedra neighborhood of Buenos Aires this Wednesday. After a tour of the facilities, accompanied by the company's CEO, Marcos Galperín, Milei gave a speech in which he emphasized the role of business as "a social benefactor that solves people's problems," highlighting the "benefits" the e-commerce giant has brought to society in recent years. "One of the things I want to make clear is that a successful businessperson is a social benefactor because if they're making money, it means they've solved a problem for people," he asserted. "Private success always results in a benefit for society. And I want to take a moment to consider the benefit this company has brought to all of society," Milei remarked. Addressing Galperín, he continued: "They're going to criticize me for giving them free publicity, but they're going to attack us anyway, so forget about it. Today we can access almost any item on the market, and 15 years ago we couldn't."
