Lalique Pour Homme Lion (1997) - A Masterpiece

This fragrance rekindled my appreciation for its perfumer Maurice Roucel! It is such an interesting creation because it goes through several changes and crosses genres. First it opens up with a blast of citrus, lavender, and rosemary, but in a smooth blend that is not overly classic or old-school smelling. The fragrance gradually turns more powdery and creamy built around sandalwood, and retains a floral aquatic airiness with the use or iris while still rich and woody at its heart. The vanilla separates this fragrance from many others from this era, having a slight oriental feel. This fragrance takes parts of Green Irish Tweed, Habit Rouge, Platinum Egoiste, and is also reminiscent of Reflection Man by Amouage. Fantastic!
