The Kyrgyz, a semi-nomadic horse-riding people, wear their cultural heritage with pride. Kyrgyzstan, this small landlocked country, is made up of high plateaus surrounded by impassable mountains, an enclave of rugged serenity. The Tian Shan, literally "The Heavenly Mountains," rises to 7,400 meters above sea level. Welcome to the kingdom of endless peaks. These mountains form a jewel box containing priceless treasures. Muscat BORUCHEV lives in the Ters Valley, in the west of the country, where he breeds exclusively Kyrgyz horses, a breed that nearly disappeared during the Soviet era due to massive crossbreeding with Russian horses. He decided to revive this breed and introduce the rest of the world to the qualities of this robust horse. Since 2009, he has focused his efforts on the spotted horse, known as the charat in Kyrgyz. Bastien CHAIX first came to Kyrgyzstan nine years ago. This ornithologist and naturalist fell in love with this country where people live so close to nature. A committed enthusiast, Bastien has led scientific expeditions for the NGO Objectif Sciences International since 2009. To raise awareness among Kyrgyz youth about environmental issues, the organization funds expeditions with young people from the Karakol orphanage, who have lost touch with the natural world. Through the dust and heat of the southern slopes, we occasionally glimpse a surprising vehicle: the eBilim off-road bus.
